Writing Update: Returning to the Origins
It’s been a couple of months since I released the final book in the Chronicles of Storm series, and I wanted to take a moment to share a quick update on what’s been happening in the Salamanderverse.
For those who may be new here, the Salamanderverse is a fantasy world built around ancient magic, powerful characters and the delicate balance between Light and Darkness. Many of these stories draw inspiration from mythology, weaving mythological elements and characters into the fabric of the world to create something both familiar and entirely new. This upcoming trilogy dives deeper into those roots, the origins of power, history, and the figures who shaped the Fire Salamander World.
Saying goodbye to characters you’ve lived with for three years isn’t easy. Honestly, it’s heartbreaking. It feels a lot like losing a friend, especially when it comes to Declan and Troyan. But that’s part of the journey. At some point, you have to take a deep breath, let go and move forward into a new story.
No one ever said being an author was easy, right? 😉
And don’t get me wrong, I truly love writing. There’s something almost magical about sitting down, opening your computer and watching a brand-new story come to life word by word. It’s a feeling that lives somewhere between amazement and disbelief. Even now, I sometimes can’t quite believe I’ve published over twenty books.
That said, I’ve been exactly where I promised I’d be—deep in my writing cave, working on a brand-new trilogy.
This story will explore the three Masters of Power—their pasts, their struggles and victories, as well as the history of Kendral. Along the way, you’ll meet new characters. Some of them may feel strangely familiar, but others are entirely new to this world.
For me, this project feels like coming home. I’ve always been drawn to the stories where myth, magic and human emotions come together.
But this trilogy is different. It’s where everything began. The very first words I ever wrote as an author came from this story. And now that I’ve returned to it, I feel that same spark, the same excitement and energy I had when I first started.
Right now, I’m about 137,000 words in and roughly two-thirds of the way through the first draft of the first book. There’s still a lot of ground to cover, but I’m enjoying every step of the journey. As I mentioned before, this one is a bit longer than my usual stories, so both writing and editing will take more time.
I hope you’ll stick with me through the wait because I truly believe it’ll be worth it.
Meet a Character: Master Mrak Delar
Since there’s a bit of a wait ahead, I thought I’d introduce you to some of the characters you’ll (hopefully) be meeting soon.
Let’s start with someone unforgettable.
Who Is Master Mrak Delar?

I wanted to begin with him because he’s probably the most controversial, fascinating and complex character in the Salamanderverse. Quite a few of you have asked about him over the years: who he really is, where he comes from, and whether he’d ever get his own story.
Well… this trilogy is very much his stage.
Mrak Delar is one of the three Masters of Power, a dark and mysterious character who has appeared across all three series. But there’s far more to him than what’s been revealed so far.
Powers, Personality and Duality
I’ll be honest, he’s also been one of the most challenging characters to write. His duality makes him layered, unpredictable and, at times, difficult to fully understand even for me.
Unlike the other Masters of Power, Mrak embodies both Light and Darkness—a balance that echoes the mythological archetypes of duality found in many ancient stories. That tension and constant pull between opposing forces is at the very core of who he is.
He’s centuries old, though he doesn’t look a day over thirty. Like all Masters of Power, he has jet-black hair and completely black eyes. He’s a formidable fighter, and so far, no one has been able to defeat him in a sword fight or single combat. And when it comes to wielding elemental power, he is a league of his own.
But what makes Mrak truly compelling isn’t just his strength, but his contradictions.
He is everything at once: king and slave, Darkness and Light, a character shaped as much by myth as by choice.
And yet, when it comes to the people he cares about, he is fiercely, unwaveringly loyal.
As I mentioned, this story has been with me since the very beginning, and returning to it feels both familiar and new at the same time. There’s still a long road ahead before it’s ready, but I’m excited to share more with you along the way—more characters, more pieces of the story and more glimpses into the world behind it all.
I’d love to hear your thoughts. What do you think about Mrak Delar so far? Are you curious to learn more about him and the other Masters of Power?
As always, thank you all so much for your continued support.
Happy reading!
